How-To's & FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I need to be to rent a boat?
To rent or drive a boat, you must be 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
How old do I need to be to rent a jet ski?
Must be 25 years or older with a valid driver’s license. Must be 16 years or older to operate with a legal guardian’s signature on the release form.
Do I need a boating license?
No boating license is required in Idaho. There are several resources to review Idaho boating laws, responsibilities, and safety protocols.
Are there extra steps for renting a jet ski?
To rent a jet ski, you must watch Idaho’s Play It Safe Video. Then, on the day of your reservation, you will receive a safety orientation and a personal certification card from 208 Boat Rentals that you must carry with you while operating the jetski (PWC).
How many people can ride the jet ski?
Our jet skis accommodate two adults max, or one adult with two children.
Do I have to pay a damage deposit?
A $500.00 damage deposit will be charged and fully refunded if the boat is returned damage-free. Any damages incurred to the boat or equipment are the full responsibility of the renter and will be charged to the credit card on file before the $500.00 damage deposit is released. If the damages exceed the damage deposit, they are still the renter’s sole responsibility and will be charged accordingly.
Can I put the boat on a beach?
No, most beaches in our area are rocky and will cause severe damage to the boat. Please do not attempt to beach our vessel.
How does fueling work?
All watercrafts will be presented to renters with a full fuel tank. Renters can refuel and return the watercraft with a full tank, or 208 Boat Rentals will complete that service and only charge the cost of fuel to the card on file.
Do all participants have to sign the watercraft waiver and usage agreement?
Every person 18 years and older must sign the waiver, and guardians must sign for all minors. Safety is our number one priority, and the waiver contains important safety and liability information. You can view the form here.
What happens if I cancel my reservation?
Reservations must be canceled 14 days prior to the rental date to avoid a $250 late cancel charge. Reservations made on holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Fathers’ Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) will not be refunded. If hazardous weather is predicted (lightning, high winds, etc.), we will try to move you to another day if possible, and if not a full refund will be given. No-shows will result in the full amount of the rental plus tax charged to the credit card on file.
